Thankful Village
Today we became a thankful village one of only three in Lincolnshire and of 48 nation wide. A thankful village is deemed to be one from which all the men who went to fight in the Great War (First World War) all returned alive to continue their lives in the village.
My Grandfather Edward Sleight was one of ten men from our village who survived. At the dedication service of the plaque in the village church, St Andrews, we as his ancestors were able to have 4 generations present in his honour.
